Lost at Sea: A PSP Tube Painting

Tube Painting 101: Sailing scene, for this tutorial you will need PSP version 8

& my zipped file of tubes and gradient, which you can find HERE & the PDF version HERE

1) Unzip the tubes to your tubes folder.

2) Unzip the gradient to your gradients folder.

3) Open a new image 500x500 transparent background

4) Make a new raster layer name it sea. Using the waves tube, fill in the bottom 1/3 of the new layer by clicking several time to apply the tube.

5) Switch to the smudge tool

with the settingsabove and begin to blend the waves together

6) It should resemble this

7) Make a new raster layer

name it boat and using the boat tube, add the boat to your image! Position the boat near the top of your waves section and then switch back to the wav tube and on the boat layer add 1 click of the tube at the bottom area of the boat. This is done so that you can smudge some waves up and into the boat for a more realistic effect.

8) Image>Rotate>Free Rotate>Rotate the boat image about 8 degrees to the left, Switch to the smudge tool and begin smudging the wav up and around the boat.

9) Select raster layer 1 and fill in the sky with the sky gradient.
Using the Lighten/darken tool round brush with the settings shown in the next image
randomly drag your mouse around the sky alternating left and right mouse clicks this is
the beginning process of our storm clouds.

10) Switch to warp brush with these settings Apply the Warp using the setting in the following image.

12) Go to Effects>Illumination effects>Sunburst
with the following settings.Click okay

13) Go to Layers>Merge>Merge visible on your command toolbar and Merge your layers.

14) We could just crop this image and leave as is, but I'd like to give it a watercolor effect so go to Effects>Art Media Effects>Brush Strokes and use these settings.

15) Crop your image, frame it however you like and sit back and admire :)
